Requests for family registration certificates will become more convenient from March 1, 2024.
Family registration certificates are indispensable for inheritance registration, and as of March 1, 2024, obtaining family registration certificates will be a little more convenient than before.

Normally, to obtain a family register, a request must be made to the municipal office of the municipality of the place of domicile. This can be done in person at the counter, or you can request it by mail. If the place of legal domicile is close to where you currently live, this may not be so inconvenient, but if it is far away or located in a different part of the country, it will take more time and effort.

Therefore, as of March 1, 2024, it will be possible to obtain some of the family registers at the nearest city, ward, town or village office. (This is called wide-area issuance.) Requests by mail or by proxy are not accepted, and must be made in person.
