What is the original family register？No.1 (改製原戸籍とは？)
Family registers are sometimes reformed to a new form due to legal revisions. In fact, the original family register undergoing reformation is a type of removal from the family register, but it is called separately from the family register undergoing removal from the family register because the reason for removal from the family register is due to legal revision.
(戸籍は、法改正により、新しい様式の戸籍に作り直し、つまり改製が行われることがありますが、この改製が行われる前の古い戸籍を指して、改製原戸籍と言います。実は、改製原戸籍は除籍の一種になるのですが、除籍の理由が法改正によるため、除籍とは区別して呼ばれています。)
Family registers have been revised several times. The most recent revision of the original family register is made from a result of the reformation of the computerized family registers that we frequently see today.

Prior to computerization, notification of births, marriages, and other family registers was processed mainly by typewriting entries on original Japanese paper using a Japanese typewriter. In addition, the original family registers were searched manually when issuing certificates. These paperwork processes related to family registers were time-consuming and labor-intensive, and were a major problem that needed to be improved.

Finally, with the revision of the Family Registration Law in 1994, paperwork related to family registers can now be handled by computer, greatly reducing the amount of labor and time required. Family registers, which had been recorded on paper, can now be stored and managed on computers, making it much easier to enter family registers and check their contents. This means that family registers are now managed by computerized electronic data instead of paper ledgers.

(コンピュータ化されるに伴ってできた従前の戸籍は、改製原戸籍となりますが、この戸籍の先頭には、改製原戸籍と表示され、「平成六年法務省令第五十一号附則第二条第一項による改製につき、平成○年○月○日消除」と記載されます。平成6年の法務省令によって戸籍が作り直され平成○年○月○日にこの戸籍が閉鎖されたという意味です。この改製原戸籍は「平成改製原戸籍」と呼ばれています。)
